The Union and its Territory : Part I (Articles 1- 4) 



Union and its territory:- Article 1 to 4 under part 1 of the Indian constitution deals with the union and its territory. India that is Bharat shall be a union of states. In india there is undustructed union and dusctructed state.




Article 1 to 4 under part 1 of the Indian constitution deals with the union and its territory.

Article 1


  •  India that is Bharat shall be a union of state 
  • State means territory of the state + union territory + territory acquired
  •  in this article state means  all the state which are written in schedule 1


Article 2


  • parliament may by law admit new state into union of India or stablish new state on terms and condition it deems fit. 
  • parliament can redraw the map


Note:-
 article 2 relate to the admission or establishment of new state that are not part of the union of India.

Article 3



  • A) form a new state by separation of territory from new state or by uniting two or more state or path or by uniting any territory of a part of any state.
  • B) increase the area of any state.
  • C) diminishing the area of any state.
  • D) alter the boundaries of any state. and
  • E) alter the name of any state


ARTICLE 4 :

LAWS MADE UNDER ARTICLES 2 AND 3 TO PROVIDE FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE FIRST AND THE FOURTH SCHEDULE AND SUPPLEMENTAL, INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL MATTERS



New states and union Territories created after 1956.

1) Maharashtra and Gujarat
- 1960 Maharashtra and Gujarat state is form
- Bombay divided into two separate state Maharashtra and Gujarat
- Gujarat was established as the 15 state of the Indian union.

2) dadra and Nagar haveli.
- in 1961 dadra and Nagar formed in 10th constitutional amendment act, 1961.

3) Goa Daman and Diu
- in 1987 Goa was established as a state hood.
-Daman and Diu was made  union territory in 12th constitutional amendment act 1962

4) Puducherry.
- in 1962 Puducherry was form under 14 constitutional amendment act

5) Nagaland
-  in 1963 Nagaland was formed as a state union

6) Haryana Chandigarh amd Himachal Pradesh
-  in 1966 Haryana state was formed as 17th state of India
- Chandigarh is a union territory 
- in 1971 Himachal Pradesh is form as  18th state of the Indian union.

7) Manipur Tripura and Meghalaya 
-in 1972 Manipur Tripura and Meghalaya was formed as 19th 20th and 21st state union of India.
- 22nd constitutional amendment act 1969 created megalaya is an substate and autonomous state.

8) Sikkim
-  Sikkim stablished in 1975 under 36 constitutional amendment act and
- Sikkim is 22nd state of Indian union.

9) Mizoram Arunachal Pradesh and Goa
- in 1987 Mizoram Arunachal Pradesh and Goa was formed
-  Mizoram is 23rd state of Indian union Arunachal Pradesh is 24th state of Indian union and 
Goa is 25th state of Indian union.

10) Chhattisgarh Uttarakhand Jharkhand
- in 2000 Chhattisgarh  Uttrakhand and  Jharkhand was established
-  Chhattisgarh 26 state  of Indian union Uttarakhand is 27 state of Indian and Jharkhand is 28th state of Indian union

11) Telangana
-  Telangana is formed in 2014 as the 29th state of Indian union it was curved out of the territory of Andhra Pradesh.

12) Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh
-  in 2019 Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was divided in union territory
- Jammu and Kashmir is union territory and Ladakh is also union territory

Important note:-
 in 1956
 there are 14 state and 6 union territories
 
 and 2020 (present) 
there are 28 state and 9 union territories
